Preventing Chronic Disease

Chronic diseases are diseases that are long-lasting and persistent. Heart disease, diabetes, asthma, cancer and arthritis are examples of common chronic diseases.

According to CDC, 7 out of 10 deaths among Americans each year are from chronic diseases. The most common are heart disease, cancer and stroke, which together account for more than 50% of all deaths in the U.S. each year.

Evidence shows that chronic diseases are preventable. That means there are things we can do that will decrease our chance of having chronic disease impact our lives.
