Guidecraft Inc. Recalls Children's Puppet Theaters Due to Violation of Lead Paint Standard

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with the
firm named below, today announced a voluntary recall of the following
consumer product. Consumers should stop using recalled products
immediately unless otherwise instructed.
Name of Product: Tabletop Puppet Theaters
Units: About 5,400
Manufacturer: Guidecraft Inc., of Englewood, N.J.
Hazard: Surface paints on the puppet theater's wooden panels contain
excessive levels of lead, violating the federal lead paint standard.
Incidents/Injuries: None reported.
Description: The recalled puppet theater has red panels on the front and
sides and a chalkboard signboard on top. The puppet theater measures
about 24-inches in length, 6-inches in width and about 28-inches in
height.
Sold at: Specialty toy stores, gift shops, catalogs and Web sites
nationwide from June 2006 through August 2007 for about $35.
Manufactured in: China
Remedy: Consumers should immediately take the recalled puppet theaters
away from children and contact Guidecraft to receive a replacement
theater or another product of equal value.
