Magnets Recalled by
American Scientific Due to Risk of Lead Exposure

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with the
firm named below, today announced a voluntary recall of the following
consumer product. Consumers should stop using recalled products
immediately unless otherwise instructed.
Name of Product:
Magnets
Hazard: Surface paint on the magnets can contain high levels of
lead, violating the federal lead paint standard.
Description:
This recall involves horseshoe, rectangular bar, and U-shaped magnets
sold primarily to schools for use in science classes. The magnets
have red and blue paint on the surface of the magnet. Item numbers
included in the recall are:

Remedy: Consumers
should immediately stop using these products and contact American
Scientific to receive a free replacement.
