Malt-O-Meal Cereal Recalled

April 7, 2008

Malt-O-Meal Company, a Minneapolis, MN firm, is voluntarily recalling its unsweetened puffed rice

and unsweetened puffed wheat cereals because they may be contaminated with Salmonella. No

illnesses have been reported to date in connection with this product.

 

All other Malt-O-Meal products, besides the puffed rice and puffed wheat cereals, are not included with this recall.

 

The recalled products were distributed nationally under various label brands with a “best if used by”

date ranging from April 8, 2008 to March 18, 2009.

 

Brand labels include: Acme, America’s Choice, Food Club, Giant, Hannaford, Jewel, Laura Lynn, Pathmark, Shaw’s, Shoprite, Tops, and Weis Quality. A complete list of affected products can be found at the company's web site. This product may be found in both retail stores and food service establishments.
